If you're heading to Cancun or anywhere in Quintana Roo (including Playa del Carmen, Tulum, or Cozumel), be prepared to pay the mandatory Visitax, a tourism fee of approximately $14 USD per person. It applies to all foreign visitors over age 4 and must be paid before leaving the state.

• Pay online at Visitax.gob.mx to avoid airport delays
• Keep your QR code handy for airport security
• Avoid unofficial payment sites to dodge scams and extra fees

This small fee helps fund local tourism infrastructure and services. So while it’s not the most exciting part of your trip, it’s part of keeping paradise running smoothly
