Royal Hideaway Playcar - Adults-only resort

Fun clients just returned from the Adults-Only Royal Hideway Playacar and emailed me their review:

Denise,
Here is our review and some photos

We recently returned from our getaway at Royal Hideaway Playacar and had a fantastic time!  The ride from the airport went by fast, especially when we purchased our ‘dos cervezas’ from the shuttle driver.  We passed through a nice gated community with lots of people out walking the dog or stroller. Checking in was easy and we were greeted warmly.  We then waited around for a few hours for our room to be open (we got there really early) and in the meantime had some drinks and food and enjoyed the spectacular view of the ocean.  Our bags were brought to our rooms and we were given our keys.

The rooms were terrific; clean, cool enough (we keep our home thermostat around 68), regular turn-down service, twice a day most days, refrigerator didn’t work but we didn’t care because the bar was 100 feet from our room and we had all the water we needed.  We regularly ordered room service when we had excursions that departed before restaurants opened or were just feeling lazy/inebriated and had no problems; it was always terrific.  All the restaurants at the resort were good for resort food with a few of them exceeding that standard.  I recommend the oven fired pizzas from The Deck and dinner at Palazzo.

There are multiple nice small pools around that we never used and spent most of our time on excursions, on the beach/in the ocean, and in the large infinity pool facing the ocean.

The bartenders and guys working the pool and ocean area were on top of things!

There were making us or bringing us drinks as needed or nachos on the beach.  The resort is very laid back and skews towards an older crowd.  We’re in our early to mid 30’s and were looking for a little more activity within the resort; namely sand volleyball (or water vb which isn’t provided) which we only managed to wrangle enough people for on one day.

The resorts on either side looks crowded and bustling but this place was very relaxed.  If you want to lay around and drink and eat and legitimately relax on your vacation this is a great spot with a small footprint that makes getting around the resort easy.

We never experienced a shortage of towels or any problems with dinner reservations that I’ve seen others comment on.  This was a terrific place and we’ll likely return.

Emerald Princess - Alaska Inside Passage

In June Kathy and Tony sailed from Seattle to explore the Alaska Inside Passage on board the Emerald Princess.

They departed Seattle and had a beautiful day at Sea before arriving in Ketchikan.

      Port of Ketchikan.

From there they cruised the Tracy Ann Fjord.

The next port of calls were in Juneau and Skagway.

They had another day at Sea sailing from Skagway to Victoria British Columbia before returning back to Seattle.

Thank you so much Kathy and Tony for allowing me to share your incredible photos!

It's not too late to confirm your 2017 Alaska sailing.  The rates for 2018 Alaska sailings are now available also!
