TSA Ends Mandatory Shoe Removal at U.S. Airports
Effective immediately, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has officially retired its long-standing “shoes-off” policy at airport security checkpoints.
Passengers traveling through domestic airports can now keep their shoes on during screening, unless flagged for additional inspection.
Thanks to advanced body scanners and CT imaging technology, TSA can now detect threats without requiring footwear removal.
What You Need to Know:
- You can keep your shoes on at TSA checkpoints.
- If you trigger an alarm or are selected for secondary screening, shoe removal may still be required.
- Expect shorter wait times and smoother screening, especially helpful for families and older travelers.
