Alaska Adventure: A Journey to Remember
Earlier this month, we set off with our good friends Bill and Teresa for an unforgettable adventure in Alaska. We met in Seattle, then flew to Fairbanks to begin our journey.
That very night, we joined a late-night excursion to a cozy yurt where the Northern Lights danced across the sky, an awe-inspiring way to start the trip. From there, we traveled to Denali National Park and were among the lucky few (fewer than 30% of visitors) who actually get to see Mt. McKinley unobstructed by clouds.
Our journey continued by train across Alaska, ending in Whittier where we boarded the Coral Princess. A relaxing day at sea gave us time to enjoy onboard activities and fine dining at The Crown Grill. The highlight came as we cruised through Glacier Bay National Park, marveling at the towering beauty of the Marjorie Glacier.
Each port brought something special: in Skagway, we rode the scenic train to the summit and soaked in gold rush history before enjoying lunch at a local brewery. In Juneau, we explored the Mendenhall Glacier, Nugget Falls, and the whimsical “upside-down trees” at Glacier Gardens.
Rough seas meant we couldn’t stop in Ketchikan, but that gave us one more day to savor life aboard the ship. Finally, we wrapped up our adventure in Vancouver before heading home, our hearts (and photo albums) full of memories.
Alaska gave us raw beauty, adventure, and time well-spent with dear friends, truly a trip of a lifetime.
